Joe N. Austin, MD
Dr. Austin joined the Kidney and Hypertension Center in 1991 and is the second most senior member of the group. He became interested in nephrology as a medical student because of his interest in the pathophysiology of renal disease and its application to clinical settings. In medical school and residency, he was fortunate to have mentors who helped further his interest in nephrology. He aims to provide all of his patients with professional, compassionate care.
Dr. Austin is married and has 4 children who have professional careers in fields other than medicine. His hobbies include hiking, collecting baseball memorabilia, and antique maps.
